OEM Process

Direct answer

A startup-ready sportswear tech pack includes flats, graded POM, BOM with fabric GSM and composition, construction notes, artwork placements, trim list and packaging. Missing pieces force manufacturer assumptions that slow samples and inflate change orders.

Why startups stall at sampling

Most delays are not ‘factory slow’ — they are incomplete packs. Without measurement charts, logo sizes and fabric specs, the manufacturer fills gaps. Those gaps become remake fees.

Minimum viable tech pack

Front/back flats (or clear photos of a reference), size chart with points of measure, fabric composition + GSM, stitch types, branding method and placement, care label copy, and carton/polybag rules. PDF is fine; AI/PNG artwork for logos should be vector where possible.

What to send if you only have a reference garment

Ship or photograph the reference, call out what must match (fit, fabric hand, logo) and what can change. ELEVIA can reverse-engineer a working pack from a reference, then lock PPS before bulk — library remakes from 150 pieces per style per colour when the silhouette already exists.

From pack to PPS

Fit sample → comments → revised sample or sealed PPS → colour. Do not open multi-colour bulk on a fit sample alone. See the sampling process page for stage gates.

Common mistakes

  • Sending moodboards without measurements
  • Approving logo colour on screen only
  • Skipping packaging until after PPS

Buyer advice

  • Use the free tech-pack checklist PDF in Downloads
  • Name one decision-maker for fit comments
  • Link your pack to a manufacturer hub before RFQ

Buyer FAQ

Questions procurement usually asks next

Do I need a designer to start?

Helpful but not mandatory. A clear reference garment plus POM notes is enough to open a remake.

How detailed should artwork be?

Vector logos with pantone or lab-dip direction. Raster mockups alone cause placement disputes.
