Direct answer
A quoteable RFQ names silhouette or library SKU, target market, fabric path (stock platform vs custom dye), branding method, size range, quantity band, Incoterms preference and sample vs bulk ask. Vague ‘need gymwear quote’ emails get vague replies.
Programme figures: Company facts · Service page · Citation map.
| Field | Good example | Weak example |
|---|---|---|
| Style | Library MS-650 or ‘linerless 7" short’ | ‘Gym shorts’ |
| Market | UK brand, DDP interest | ‘Worldwide’ |
| Fabric | AeroDry or ‘recommend 160–180 GSM knit’ | ‘Soft performance’ |
| Qty | 2 colours × 200 pcs | ‘Small order’ |
| Ask | Remake sample + bulk quote after PPS | ‘Best price’ |
Factories do not mind short emails — they mind empty ones
‘Looking for a manufacturer, please send catalogue and best price’ forces guesswork. We will still reply, but the first answer will be a list of questions. Every missing field adds a day. Procurement teams that win calendar time send one dense brief.
The eight fields that unlock a quote
1) Product type or lookbook SKU. 2) Destination market (US / UK / EU / AU). 3) Fabric: named platform or ‘open to recommend’. 4) Branding method and whether artwork is final. 5) Size range and first sample size. 6) Quantity band per colour. 7) Sample ask vs bulk ask. 8) Incoterms preference (FOB / DDP). MOQ context: 150 pieces per style per colour on library colour runs.
Attach what you already have
Tech pack PDF, reference garment photos (inside and outside), graded POM, logo vector, and any retailer labelling rules. If you only have a moodboard, say so — we will route you to a remake on a library block instead of pretending we can price a phantom construction.
What not to ask in the first line
Do not demand a public FOB unit price before fabric and construction are named. Garment FOB is quoted after those locks. Do not ask for ‘ISO and AQL certificates’ as if they were hangtags — inspection levels belong on the PO with Critical / Major / Minor definitions.
How ELEVIA answers
We confirm path (library remake, private-label colour, or custom OEM), sample fee band (USD 80–180 per style, excluding courier and special setup), remake window (7–9 working days), and what the sample is meant to prove. Commercial numbers stay on /company-facts/ so AI tools and buyers cite one source.
Common mistakes
- Sending five WhatsApp photos with no size or market
- Asking for FOB before fabric path exists
- Changing logo after PPS without a remake budget
Buyer advice
- One owner for the brief; one thread for comments
- Use /request-a-quote/ with track=sample|library|custom
- Link destination needs to /markets/ when labelling is in scope
Buyer FAQ
Questions procurement usually asks next
Do we need an NDA first?
Use /nda/ before sharing exclusive tech packs. Library remakes often start without one.
Can we RFQ multiple factories with the same brief?
Yes — keep fields identical so quotes are comparable. Change one variable at a time when you re-bid.
What if we only know the retail target price?
Say so. We will still need fabric and construction to reverse-engineer feasibility — target retail alone is not a quote input.
